Kentucky State Fair August 2004. Kentucky-SHHH coorperated with the KCDHH, and Hamilton Relay to operate the booth. Here we see Ed Schickle talking to visitors in the HAT (Hearing Assistance Technology) House.
Hamilton Relay's table demonstrated the new CapTel phones that started in Kentucky in January 2005.
Judy Pereboom, a hearing volunteer in the booth, tries out the CapTel, at the direction of Hamilton's Henry Brinkmann.
The Hamilton table was one of the highlights of the booth.
Dogs for the Deaf were also presented at the booth, as trainers brought them in each day to demonstrate their talents.
Judy Pereboom demonstrating the Baby Cry that alerts deaf/HOH parents that the baby is crying. "Want to see what happens when the baby cries?" was a constant line at the fair. Fairgoers were fascinated with this one!
At the end of a long day, the fair visitors are gone and Ed Schickle and Paula Esterle plan for the next day. The fair was 10 days and took a lot of planning. We were blessed with many volunteers from our own groups, as well as our hearing friends.
The recliner and captioned TV also demonstrated the TV Ears assistive listening system. At left are Tommy Thomas, Pat Huddleston, and Julia Reed.
In the yellow shirt is Henry Brinkmann talking a visitor. Tommy and Pat in the background.
Children were especially fascinated with the Baby Cry exhibit. The booth also demonstrated flashing alerts for phones and doorbells.
